Russell G. Vaillancourt

Russell G. Vaillancourt of Salem, NH died on Wednesday, January 24, at Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Georgette Vaillancourt, sharing over 58 years of marriage.

Russell was born on July 27, 1939 to the late Rudolph and Loretta Vaillancourt. He was the oldest of 6 children; Roger, Paul, Rene, Claudette, and Georgette. Russell grew up in Lawrence MA and later served in the National Guard. He was a long time employee at Malden Mills where he worked as a receiving supervisor until retiring.

Russell is survived by his wife, Georgette Vaillancourt, his son, David Vaillancourt (with husband, Donald Bedard), and his daughter, Danielle Trudel (with husband, Mark Trudel) along with his grandchildren, Bryan and CJ Trudel and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Russell was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Vaillancourt.

Russell was an avid golfer and former member at Campbell's Scottish Highlands Golf Course. As a long time resident of Salem, NH, he followed the Salem NH Police and Fire Departments on his scanner and watched all of the televised meetings at the town hall, keeping the entire family updated on current local events. He was also a sports fan and faithfully followed the Patriots and Red Sox. Russ was known for his dry sense of humor and especially enjoyed playfully antagonizing his grandson, CJ.

In his retirement, Russell took pride in providing for his family and for the past few years, had fully devoted his time to care for his beloved wife of 58 years, Georgette. We will truly miss him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 30th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.
