Ronald Peter Reitmeyer, 68, of Salem New Hampshire died Saturday November 28, 2015 after a long battle with diabetes. He was born on December 1, 1946 in Elizabeth New Jersey, the youngest son of Francis and Vera Reitmeyer.

He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Art at Fordham University in New York and served in the Navy from 1967 to 1973. He spent the majority of his career in the banking field and took pride in his analytical thinking.

Ron loved art and music. He also loved nature and spent countless days kayaking and backpacking through New Jersey, New York & parts of the Appalachian Trail. He enjoyed traveling, especially to tropical locations, and relaxing by the koi pond in the back yard.

Above all, Ron felt the most joy from being a family man. He was a husband of 35 years to the late Barbara (Blutreich) Reitmeyer and father to daughters Laura Cottier and Danielle Gardiner. There was no aspect of life that he took more pride in than being a grandfather, aka Poppi, to Gabrielle Gardiner, William Gardiner, Dylan Rousseau, Joseph Gardiner, Charlotte Ciano & Jacob Cottier. They were the light of his life and he gushed over their accomplishments to anyone who would listen.

Always opinionated and quick with a word of advice (whether solicited or not), he was genuinely concerned with helping his friends, family and co-workers in any way he could. He was a dynamic & unique individual and will be missed

Calling hours will be on Wednesday December 2, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at The Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH.
