Roland Smith, 93 of Salem, NH passed away on Monday November 13, 2017 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH following a brief illness.  Mr. Smith was born in Lawrence and was raised and educated in Methuen.  He lived in Methuen until moving to Salem 10 years ago.  Roland was a Seaman 1st Class serving with The US Navy during WW II aboard The USS Ingersall.  He worked, for many years, at J.P. Stevens Osgood Mills in N. Andover and he retired from Sears Roebuck in Methuen.  He was a member of John Hancock Lodge, AF & AM of Methuen and was also a member of The First Congregational Church of Pelham, NH.  He was an avid fisherman.  He loved traveling and especially loved being with his grandsons.  His family would like to extend their gratitude to his friends and staff at Greystone Farm for their kind and compassionate care.

Roland was predeceased by his wife, Ruby G. Smith and his family members include his daughter, Janis L. Corcoran and her husband, Stephen of Londonderry, NH and his grandsons, Andrew Corcoran and Shawn Corcoran and his partner, Meghan Wilson.  He also leaves several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services were private.
