Mimi  Balukonis, of Salem, New Hampshire, passed from this life peacefully on January 3, 2016 at the  age of 91. The daughter of Anthony and Louise Shlikas, she was born and raised in South Boston with her sister, Joan and brother, Albert, both predeceased.  A graduate of South Boston High School, she was a member of the Musketeer Lodge where she met her husband, Vincent. They were married for 63 years until his death in 2006. They had four children, sons, Vincent and his wife, Diane of Salem, NH, David Balford and his wife, Bethany of Groveland, MA, and daughters, Laura Patrick and her husband, Bruce of Strafford, NH, and Claudia Wells and her husband, Michael of Chester, NH.  She and her husband lived in Braintree, MA for 57 years. Mimi was proud to raise her vegetable gardens, flower gardens, and four children. Throughout their married life, she and her husband loved to buy and sell antiques and collectables and at one time had their own shop.  Mimi moved to Salem, NH to be closer to her children, eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.  She was actively involved in Senior Center activities in Braintree and Salem.  She had a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother and was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. She greatly enjoyed entertaining family, card games with friends, treasure hunting with great-grandchildren at yard sales, and day trips to casinos. 

There are no calling hours.  Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem, NH on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 10:30 am.  Burial will be private.
