May M. Roy, age 90, of Laconia, N.H. died on August 17, 2016 at Genesis Mountain Ridge Center, Franklin, N.H. May was a communicant at the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the former Ladies of the Sacred Heart.

May was born on May 26, l926 in Waterville, Maine, eighth child of Arthur and Aglezia (Fortier) Duquette. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Parochial School in Waterville, Maine, and a 1944 graduate of Waterville High School.

Following her high school graduation, May went to work for the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. and later worked at the Englewood National Bank in Englewood, Colorado.  She moved to Laconia in 1950 and worked for Peoples National Bank, Scoitt & Williams, Laconia School District Superintendent's Office and retired in 1981 as Office Manager for Bonnette, Page and Stone Corp.

May was an active volunteer with Hospice for 15 years, Habitat for Humanity, Bolduc Park, the American Red Cross and an ABC quilter for born at risk babies.

May loved to play golf beginning in her late forties with Bud Levasseur at Scenic CC.  She served as President of Ladies Twilight League and reporter for Ladies events.  She joined Pheasant Ridge CC and served as Chairman of the Ladies Twilight League, Secretary of Pheasant Ridge Association and Director of Senior League. 

May was predeceased by her parents, husband, Adrian Roy, seven brothers and one sister, three nieces, three sisters-in-law and two stepsons, Michael A. Roy and Dennis A. Roy.

Survivors include an adopted daughter, Diane Corriveau of Florida, one sister, Jeannette Huslig and husband Clarence of Arlington, Texas, one sister-in-law, Nancy Duquette of Streetsboro, Ohio.  Also surviving are a stepson, Paul Roy and wife Jeanne and their three sons of Nashua, a step-grandson, Jeff Roy and wife Laura and a step-granddaughter of Florida, step granddaughter Melissa Roy of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of May.

Visitation will be on Wednesday August 24, 2016 at 10:00am one hour before a Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, Sacred Heart Church, Laconia at 11:00am.
