Leslie Porter, 76, of Derry, NH, died Saturday November 26, 2016 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry.  He was born in Lawrence, MA on July 1, 1940, the son of Leslie and Flora “Bunny” Porter.  Leslie was educated in Salem and graduated from Woodbury High School.  He owned and operated G & P Flooring in Salem for many years. 

He was very proud of his race horses, and spent many days watching them take part in harness racing at Rockingham Park in Salem.  He enjoyed traveling to Saratoga, NY to see the races, as well as going on many beach vacations.  Family and friends will always remember Leslie’s amazing sense-of-humor, as he was well-known for making everyone smile.  He had a positive attitude towards everything in life, especially during his battle with illness in his final years.

Leslie was pre-deceased by his wife, Dorothy Porter, as well as his sister, Marcia.

He will be sadly missed by his brother Thomas and wife, Joanne Porter from Derry, as well as two daughters and husbands, Donna and Ted Dyer of Windham, NH, and Kim and Charles Minasalli of Hampton, NH; his grandchildren Tara Saxton, Christopher Medeiros, Keri Minasalli, Jarret Minasalli, Taylor and Tatum Dyer; and one great-grandchild, Tiana Medeiros.  Leslie also leaves his loving companion, Maria Simmons, and her daughters and husbands, Holly and Donnie Spellman, and sons Riley and Brady; and Christine and Mark Lehane.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, December 1st, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH.  There will be a Derry/Salem Loyal Order of Elk Service at 6:30PM.  Graveside services will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at 11:00AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge #2226, 39 Shadow Lake Road, Salem, NH, 03079.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.goundreydewhirstfuneral.com.
