Jeanne H. Drouin (Gouin) Mitchell

Jeanne (Gouin) Drouin Mitchell, 82, of Salem NH, formerly of Londonderry NH, passed away at the Greystone Farm at Salem early Wednesday, July 8th, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the devoted wife of James K. Mitchell, Jr. for 28 years, who currently resides at Moravian Manor, Lititz, PA.

Jeanne was born in Amesbury, MA in 1933. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital nursing program in 1955, and received her Bachelor's degree in nursing in 1983, working as an RN up until her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Amesbury and the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Derry, NH for many years prior to attending St. David's Episcopal Church in Salem.

She enjoyed her flower gardens, reading, spending time with her precious grandchildren, and loved traveling with her husband Jim. They explored most of the National Parks and extensively traveled in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Most of all, she devoted her life to caring for family, friends and patients in need. She will be remembered as a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by eight loving children and stepchildren: James Drouin and his wife Kathy of Amesbury; Timothy Drouin of Rochester; Julie Hickey and her husband James of Chelmsford, MA; Sue Drouin of Salem, NH; Kathleen Rhyne and her husband William of Lancaster, PA; Ken Mitchell and his husband Yon of Forest Hills, NY; Tom Mitchell of Lansdale, PA, and Don Mitchell of Cambridge, MA., and her eight grandchildren Jaime, Ashlee, Cory, Ashley, Tyler, Kelly, Emma, and Abby. She has also been blessed with five great grandchildren. Jeanne is also survived by her sister Dolores Doonan and her husband J. Peter, her brother Paul Gouin, and her brother Charles and his wife Suzanne.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents Bernard Gouin of St. Camile, Canada and Rosella LaRochelle of Amesbury, brother Bernard and sisters Rita and Marguerite.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday afternoon, July 12th at 4:00PM at St. David's Episcopal Church, 231 Main Street, Salem, NH with the Reverend Carolyn Stevenson officiating. Family will greet friends after the service. Internment will occur with a private family ceremony later this week at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
