Helen C. (Smith) Poole, 86 of Salem, NH passed away on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.  Mrs. Poole was born in Saugus, MA and was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Lynn, MA.  She and her husband came to live in Salem in 1992 after his retirement.  Helen had also lived in New Britain, CT, Fair Oaks, CA and The San Francisco Bay Area.  In California, she was a member of The Loyola Guild, St. Mel’s school board in Fair Oaks and Mercy Catholic School for Girls in Carmichael, CA.  Helen was also a Pink Lady volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Carmichael.  She loved going to the ocean, playing Bridge, Double Deck Pinochle, Poker and Dominos.

The widow of Lester W. Poole, her family members include her daughter, Leslie J. Olson and her grandchildren, Valerie C. Kennedy, Margaret E. Fenner, Jason L. Sanchez, Robert M. Olson and Jonathan W. Olson. She also leaves 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah L. Sanchez and her grandson, Tobias C. Olson

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at The Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH.
