Georgette M. Vaillancourt

Georgette Vaillancourt of Salem, NH died on Sunday, April 8 at Halcyon House. She was the beloved wife of Russell G. Vaillancourt, sharing over 58 years of marriage.

Georgette was born on November 3, 1940 to the late Corrine and George Garneau. She was the youngest of 4 children, Theresa, Roger and Richard. Georgette grew up in Lawrence, MA. She was a long time employee at KMart where she worked until retirement.

Georgette is survived by her son, David Vaillancourt and his husband, Donald Bedard and her daughter, Danielle Trudel and her husband, Mark Trudel as well her grandchildren, Bryan and CJ Trudel and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Georgette was predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Vaillancourt and her loving husband, Russell Vaillancourt.

Georgette was fond of knitting and playing bingo and enjoyed several mini-vacations with Russell to Foxwoods to play and go out to dinner. She was known for her sweet tooth and loved her chocolate. Her favorite part of any meal was dessert. She didn't drink very often but when she had a glass of champagne or two, she wouldn't hesitate to share some interior design advice. Georgette was the matriarch of the Vaillancourt family and loved spending time with the family and following holiday traditions both new and old.

In her retirement, Georgette thoroughly enjoyed being “Memere” to her boys, Bryan and CJ. For the past few years, she remained with her husband Russell who had fully devoted his time to care for his beloved wife until his untimely passing 10 weeks ago. We are sorry for losing her but thankful Georgette will be reunited with Russell and Michelle for all eternity.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem, NH.  Funeral services will be on Friday April 13 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
