Frances M. Fischer, 87, of Wood River Junction, Rhode Island, passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at Saint Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, RI.
Frances (Melia) Fischer was a loving daughter to her parents who immigrated from England, the late Johanna (Enwright) Melia and John Melia. Frances is survived by her sister, Maureen Melia Hartnett. She is the sister of the late Patricia Melia Audiss, John Melia, and Nancy Melia Foster. Frances was a loving mother to her late daughter Carla Paduchowski and surviving grandsons Jeffrey and Steven. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother by surviving daughter Maureen Evans and granddaughters Nicole and Danielle, daughter Susan Ellis and grandchildren David and Carla, son Michael Fischer, son Mark Fischer and grandsons Reggie, Jacob and Isaiah, daughter MaryKay Lennon and grandchildren Sarah, Emily and Matthew. Frances was also a loving mother in law to her sons in law and daughters in law and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her 6 children and their families including her 12 grandchildren. She was known for traveling to several states over the years to spend weeks at a time with her children and grandchildren in MA, NH, RI, CA, and FL. Her constant presence played an integral part in the lives of her grandchildren attending their many sports and other activities. She even took a sign language class to assist in communicating with one of her grandaughters.
Frances spent most summers at beautiful Grandview Family Campground in NH with many close friends and family.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed attending daily mass and living out her deep faith in God.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079. Calling hours will be held before Mass from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH.
