Dorothy E. Costa, 87, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2015 at her home in Manchester, NH surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 22, 1928, in Boston, MA, to Amos Cook and Ida (Carter) Cook.  She married Vincent J. Costa, the love of her life, on April 17, 1949 at St. Margaret’s Church, Dorchester, MA.  She lived in Dorchester, Massachusetts for many years before moving to Windham, New Hampshire. 

She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time at the beach and passed that love of the water onto her children. She especially loved spaghetti dinners at her home in Windham, the annual family Christmas party and time spent with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed traveling and exploring the state of Maine with her son Jim. 

She was predeceased by her husband Vincent on May 7, 1997.    

Dorothy is survived by her three sisters, Peggy Nilsson, Amy Cosman and Phyllis Sforza.  She was pre-deceased by her brothers Robert Cook, Duncan Cook, Joseph Cook, Charles Cook, George Cook and Francis (Butch) Cook and her sisters Alberta Irr and Lucy Sheppard. 

Dorothy is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Dinorah Costa of San Diego, CA, daughter Theresa Marescia of Windham, NH,  son James Costa of Sandown, NH, daughter Dottie O’Gorman of Manchester, NH, daughter Marie Costa and her wife Dolores Scott of  San Antonio, TX,  daughter Rosemary Prunier of Windham, NH,  son Charles Costa of Derry, NH,  son Michael and his wife Eileen Costa of Plaistow, NH,  son Peter  and his wife Rebecca Costa of Epsom, NH and son Joseph and his wife Marialana Costa of Haverhill, MA.  She is also survived by her daughter in laws Theresa Costa of Windham, NH and Nancy Costa- Dallaire of Danville, NH and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her sons Vincent Costa, Jr., and Edwin Costa and her grandson Edwin Costa II.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 16, 2015, between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Church, 2 Searles Road, in Windham, NH. Burial will follow at the Cemetery on the Plain in Windham.
