Diana Dorothea Karels, born December 21st, 1946 in Mansfield, OH, age 70, of Salem, NH, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 from complications due to a recent hospitalization.

Diana is survived by her husband of 47 years, Steven N. Karels, Salem, NH, and her three adult children, Joseph Jonathan Karels (Melissa) of FL, Steven Robert Karels, NH, and Linda Nichole Rainier (Maurice), NH. Her younger sister, Susan Wetzel (Carroll) of Mojave, CA also survives her. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothea Blackledge of Lancaster, CA and by her older brother, Robert Blackledge, of Madison, WI.

Diana was a lifelong homemaker and also worked at the Salem, NH Holiday Inn as a housekeeper where she received employee of the year awards for her outstanding service. She retired from the Salem Holiday Inn in 2009 for medical reasons. Diana is remembered by all for her eternal smile, her joy of life, and the happiness that she brought to others.

A memorial service will be held at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH, beginning at 3 PM, Sunday, March 12th, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Pleasant Street united Methodist Church, 8 Pleasant Street, Salem, NH and designated for the Guatemala Water Filter mission.
