Claire W. Simensen

November 8, 1930 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Claire W. Simensen, 87, of Salem, NH, passed away on December 29, 2017, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born November 8, 1930, to Sam and Annie (Herron) Waterhouse. Claire is predeceased by her brothers Bill and Sam and former husband Marty Simensen. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Peter Klecan, treasured grandchildren, Josh, Bridget and Jonny Klecan along with beloved sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Woodbury High School and Keene State University, Claire was a steadfast supporter of both institutions, and was a constant presence within their respective alumni associations and athletic events. She was inducted into the SHS Hall of Fame in recognition of her life long support of athletics, “Salem’s #1 Fan”. Her greatest joy as a fan was watching her three grandchildren play sports.

As a career educator, Claire inspired countless students in their pursuit of knowledge, and instilled values which will withstand the test of time.

A friend to many, Claire always had a full calendar of activities, which included her long-time bowling league, mahjong, bridge, 45’s, and golf. She was also an enthusiastic college sports fan.

Claire strongly believed in giving back to her community. Throughout her life she was an avid volunteer as a member of many organizations such as Salem Junior Women’s Club, Catholic Daughters, PTA, SHS Booster Club and Hall of Fame Committee, Salem Boys and Girls Club, and Saints Mary and Joseph Parish.

Most importantly Claire was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt as well as a devout, longtime parishioner of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish.
