Bertha D. Kostiew, 87, of Salem, New  Hampshire  died on Friday March 29, 2013 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.  Bertha was born in Andover, MA. And was raised and educated in Salem, New Hampshire. She has lived in Salem all of her life. Bertha’s job in life was raising her 11 children. She loved being with her many friends at The Salem VFW  and , especially, enjoyed dancing. She loved trips to the beach and the mountains.

The widow of Stanley Kostiew, her family members include her children, Stephen and his wife, Lien Kostiew of Seattle, WA., Roland and his wife, Tina Kostiew of Salem, NH., Carol Rastaukas of Haverhill, MA., Claire Morel of Candia, NH.,Michael and his wife, Judy Kostiew of Northwood, NH., Susan and her husband, Edward Stokham of Haverhill, MA., Richard and his wife, Hannah Kostiew of Nome, AK., Lawrence and his wife, Kimberly Kostiew of Derry, NH., Paul and his wife, Lisa Kostiew of Salem, NH and James and his wife, Lisa Kostiew of Derry, NH. Bertha also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and was pre-deceased by her son, George Kostiew.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday April 12, 2013 from 9 to 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 40 Main Street, Salem, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 10:30 am on Friday in St Joseph’s  Church . Arrangements are by The Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
